COD form that converts: fields, phone mask, validation, and webhook

To optimize the conversion rate of your cash on delivery (COD) checkout form, follow these specific guidelines:
Just 3 fields
Keep the form simple. Limit it to three essential fields:
- Full Name
- Phone Number
- Shipping Address
Simplicity helps reduce the abandonment rate. The less information customers have to fill out, the more likely they are to complete their purchase.
Country-specific mask
Implement a phone mask that adapts to the user's country. For example, for Brazil, use the format (XX) XXXXX-XXXX. This not only makes the field look better, but also helps prevent typos.
To do this:
- Automatically detect the country by IP or let the user select one.
- Apply the mask that matches the phone number format for that country.
Prefix validation
Implement validation to check whether the phone number prefix is correct. For example:
- For Brazilian numbers, start with (11) for São Paulo or (21) for Rio de Janeiro.
- If the prefix isn't valid, show an error message and ask the user to correct it.
This validation not only improves lead quality, but also reduces the number of returns or delivery issues.
Webhook for call center
Integrate a webhook that automatically sends the form data to your call center. This lets the team quickly get in touch to confirm orders or resolve any potential issues.
Basic setup:
- Set up an endpoint to receive the form data.
- Make sure the webhook is secure and the data is encrypted.
- Test the flow to make sure the data is coming through correctly.
Thank-you page with upsell
After the order is confirmed, redirect the user to a thank-you page that includes an upsell. This could be a complementary product or a special offer.
Upsell page tips:
- Keep the offer relevant to what was purchased.
- Use a clear call-to-action button, such as "Add to my order".
- Include testimonials or social proof to build trust.
By implementing these strategies, you'll not only improve the user experience, but also boost your conversion rates and average order value.
