Best ad spy tools in 2026: an honest comparison of prices and platforms

Short answer: to mine Meta ads without paying anything, start with the Meta Ad Library and FreeSpy, which has a free plan. If your traffic comes from TikTok, PiPiADS and BigSpy cover that network on their paid plans. For Shopify stores, the go-to is PPSPY. Minea and AdSpy suit people who already have revenue and want more filters.

We built this comparison from each tool's official pricing and feature pages, checked in October 2026 and re-checked on 1 November 2026. When we couldn't confirm a number on the official source, it's not here. Spy tool pricing changes often, so always double-check before you subscribe.

And a transparency note: FreeSpy is our product. It's on the list, with what it does well and what it doesn't do yet.

What matters in an ad spy tool?

Before the list, here are the four criteria we used to compare:

  1. Platforms covered. A tool that only looks at Facebook and Instagram won't help someone buying traffic on TikTok, and vice versa.
  2. Free plan or trial. Can you actually use it without a card, or is it just a shop window?
  3. Entry price. The cheapest monthly paid plan, in dollars, as shown on the official page.
  4. Who it's for. A dropshipper just starting out, a COD operation, an affiliate, an agency or an established Shopify store.

A fifth point that doesn't fit in a table: what signal the tool shows you. Likes and comments are easy to inflate. Time live and the same creative repeated across several copies are much harder to fake. We explain why in days live, the most honest signal.

Quick comparison of the tools

A summary list based on the four criteria. Details for each one follow right after.

  • Meta Ad Library. Platforms: Meta technologies (Facebook, Instagram and the rest). Free plan: yes, it's free and open to anyone. Entry price: $0. Who it's for: everyone who advertises on Meta, as a starting point.
  • FreeSpy. Platforms: Meta, TikTok and YouTube, with Meta as the deepest database. Free plan: yes. Entry price: $39/month for Pro. Who it's for: dropshipping, COD, affiliates and agencies that advertise on Meta and want the Ad Library already organized.
  • Minea. Platforms: Meta ads and influencer placements; TikTok, Pinterest and Snapchat are listed as "coming soon" on the pricing page, even though the site has a TikTok product page. Free plan: the pricing page doesn't list one, the product pages advertise one. Entry price: $49/month. Who it's for: dropshippers who want product research with AI features.
  • BigSpy. Platforms: Facebook and Instagram on the entry plan; TikTok, YouTube, Google Ads, X (Twitter) and others from Growth up. Free plan: yes, Facebook only, 10 searches a day and no creative downloads. Entry price: $69/month. Who it's for: anyone who needs to see several networks in one place.
  • PiPiADS. Platforms: TikTok and Facebook. Free plan: trial with 500 credits. Entry price: $49/month. Who it's for: people buying traffic on TikTok.
  • PPSPY. Platforms: Shopify stores, with sales and ad tracking. Free plan: trial with no card. Entry price: $39/month. Who it's for: people who want to spy on Shopify stores and products.
  • AdSpy. Platforms: Facebook and Instagram. Free plan: not listed. Entry price: $149/month. Who it's for: affiliates and teams with a budget for heavy research.
  • Dropispy. The official page refused the connection on both dates we tried (13 October and 1 November 2026), so we're not listing a price or platforms. Check back: we'll update this when the official source opens.

Meta Ad Library: free and official

It's the source for almost every tool on this list that looks at Meta. According to the Meta Help Center, checked in October 2026, the Ad Library contains all active ads running across Meta technologies, and anyone can view and search it. Ads delivered in the United Kingdom, the European Union and associated territories come with additional information.

Where it's best: it's official, free and has everything that's active. No paid tool has more Meta ads than Meta itself.

Where it gets tiring: you search by term, name or Page, one ad at a time. Sorting by longevity, grouping copies of the same creative and comparing advertisers are all on you. To learn how to use it well, see the guide how to use the Meta Ad Library and the 15-minutes-a-day routine.

FreeSpy: the Meta Ad Library, already organized

FreeSpy mines the Meta Ad Library every day across several countries in Europe, Brazil and Latin America, plus the TikTok and Google (YouTube) ad libraries. Each ad is grouped by product, store and advertiser, and from there we calculate:

  • Days live, from the start date published in the Ad Library.
  • Copies, how many times the same creative is running at once. See what copies mean.
  • A 0 to 100 index, a percentile score that combines active ads, longevity, creatives, renewal, stores and markets. See how to read the index.
  • Advertiser profile: champion, evergreen or tester. See the rules for each profile.

On the Free plan ($0) you get Top Scaled, Categories and Explore, with a COD filter, plus the Community, up to 3 saved collections, a Store Monitor for up to 5 advertisers and MCP access (Claude and Cursor) with 100 queries and up to 1,000 ads per day. Pro costs $39 a month or $390 a year and unlocks an unlimited monitor with new-creative alerts, unlimited collections, bulk creative downloads, CSV export, MCP with no query limit (up to 5,000 ads per day) and the full history of every ad. Team costs $89 a month or $890 a year, with up to 10 users on the same account. Details are on the pricing page.

Where FreeSpy falls short: its deepest database is Meta. If you need in-depth TikTok data, you'll find more of it on PiPiADS or BigSpy. FreeSpy also doesn't track Shopify store sales, which is what PPSPY is built for, and it has no browser extension.

Minea: product research with AI

According to Minea's pricing page, checked on 1 November 2026, there are three plans: Starter at $49 a month ($39 a month on the quarterly plan), Premium at $99 ($79 quarterly) and Business at $199 ($158 quarterly). All of them include listings of Meta ads, products and stores, a brand tracker and monthly limits for AI ad analysis, transcription and "magic search". The same page lists influencer product placements and marks Snapchat, Pinterest and TikTok ads as "coming soon".

Where Minea beats FreeSpy: AI features to analyze and transcribe ads, influencer placements and store listings. Minea contradicts itself on two points worth knowing before you subscribe: the pricing page lists no free plan, but the product pages call out "Spy on Ads Free" and say "free plan available"; and that same pricing page marks TikTok as "coming soon" while the site keeps a TikTok ads product page live, without saying which plan it belongs to. Full comparison in Minea alternative.

BigSpy: many networks in one dashboard

According to BigSpy's pricing page, checked on 1 November 2026, the monthly plans are Starter ($69, Facebook and Instagram only), Growth ($159, adds X/Twitter, TikTok, Pangle, Google Ads and YouTube), Scale ($399, 5 seats) and Ultimate ($499, adds Pinterest, Yahoo and Unity Ads). On annual billing the same page shows $49, $119, $299 and $399 a month, and TikTok Shop features start at Growth.

That page now also lists a Free plan, which changed since our October check: $0, Facebook creatives only, 10 searches a day, 3 "creative to AI prompt" uses a day, 5 video analyses a month and 20 tracked creatives. Creative downloads are out — the page itself says downloads and advanced research require a paid plan.

Where BigSpy beats FreeSpy: network coverage. If you advertise on TikTok, YouTube and Google at the same time, it's a single subscription. Full comparison in BigSpy alternative.

PiPiADS: for people who live on TikTok

PiPiADS's official site presents it as a TikTok and Facebook tool. According to the plans section of the site, checked in October 2026, Basic costs $49 a month (with a full price of $69 crossed out) and 30,000 credits, Advanced $99 with 100,000 credits, Flexible from $180 and Enterprise $900. There's a free trial with 500 credits. Usage is credit-based: 1 per data point and 20 per detail view.

Where PiPiADS beats FreeSpy: TikTok. If your traffic comes from there, it was built for that. The credit model needs watching: you can burn through credits quickly by opening details.

PPSPY: spying on Shopify stores

PPSPY is more of a store tool than an ad tool. According to PPSPY's pricing page, checked in October 2026, the plans are Standard ($39 a month, 30 trackers and 10,000 credits), Pro ($99, 100 trackers and 100,000 credits) and Business ($299, 300 trackers and 500,000 credits), with 30% off on the annual plan. All of them include the Chrome extension. The FAQ says there's a trial with no card and that the company doesn't issue refunds.

Where PPSPY beats FreeSpy: e-commerce data, such as sales tracking for Shopify stores, and a browser extension.

AdSpy: a big Facebook and Instagram database

According to AdSpy's official site, checked on 1 November 2026, the tool covers Facebook and Instagram ads and costs $149 a month, with usage they describe as "virtually unlimited". The advertised differentiators are searching inside ad comments, filters by affiliate network and offer ID, and demographic estimates.

Where AdSpy beats FreeSpy: affiliate-focused filters and comment search. It's also the most expensive entry point on this list. Full comparison in AdSpy alternative.

How to choose the right spy tool

Three questions settle most cases:

  1. Where do you buy traffic? Only on Meta: the Meta Ad Library plus FreeSpy cover the essentials at no cost. TikTok: PiPiADS, or BigSpy from Growth up. Several networks: BigSpy.
  2. Do you want ads or stores? If the question is "how much does this store sell?", PPSPY sets out to answer it. If it's "which creative is scaling?", focus on the ad tools.
  3. How much can the tool cost per month? If you haven't validated a product yet, $49 to $149 a month is a lot. Start with what's free, build the routine and only pay when you're missing a specific feature.

A simple test for any tool: pick a niche, look for ads that have been active for more than 30 days with the same creative repeated, and see how long it takes to put together a list of five candidates. Whichever tool does that fastest in your niche is the right one for you. In FreeSpy, that path starts in Explore, filtering by niche, country and days live.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a free ad spy tool? Yes. The Meta Ad Library is free and official. FreeSpy has a Free plan, BigSpy has a Free tier with 10 searches a day, Facebook only and no downloads, and PiPiADS and PPSPY offer trials.

Which spy tool is best for TikTok? Among the ones we reviewed, PiPiADS (TikTok and Facebook) and BigSpy (TikTok from Growth up). Minea lists TikTok as "coming soon" on its pricing page.

Does a spy tool show how much the advertiser makes? No. Margin, cost per sale and daily budget don't appear in the Ad Library. Time live and copies show where someone is placing a bet, not where they're making a profit.

Is using a spy tool allowed? The tools that look at Meta work on top of the Ad Library, which is public. Copying another brand's creative is a different story. See why it pays to copy the structure, not the creative.

Want to know more about where FreeSpy's data comes from? It's all on the about page. To try it without paying, the free ad spy tool asks for no card.
