Ad spying can easily become a trap: you open the Library to “take a quick look,” and two hours later you have forty tabs open and haven’t made a single decision. What works is a short routine you do every day, always in the same order.
This is the one we recommend. It fits into 15 minutes because FreeSpy already did the heavy lifting overnight (scanning the Library, counting copies, and tracking days live).
Minutes 1 to 5: what’s picking up
Open the home page and check the Picking up now section. These are recent ads that are already being duplicated several times, which means the advertiser liked the initial results and doubled down.
Write down only the ones in your niche or a neighboring niche. Don’t open anything yet.
Minutes 5 to 10: what’s been validated
Go to Explore, filter by your niche and country, and sort by days live. Here you’re looking for the opposite: what’s already proven it can sell.
For each interesting ad, ask:
- Is it still active?
- Is the advertiser a winner or evergreen? See how we classify them.
- Are there multiple copies of the same creative?
If the answer is “yes” to all three, save it.
Minutes 10 to 15: the offer, not the creative
Open the two or three ads you saved that day and look at where they lead: the page, the price, the guarantee, the payment method. Copying the creative without understanding the offer is the costliest mistake in the game. We talk about this in copy the structure, not the creative.
Write down one line per ad:
- product and price;
- creative angle (social proof, story, discount, authority, urgency, or curiosity);
- what you’d test differently.
Once a week
Set aside 30 minutes on Monday to review your notes from the week. Products that showed up on more than one day, from different advertisers, are your test candidates.
The daily routine helps you avoid missing the timing. The weekly review helps you avoid testing on impulse.
This is the short routine. If you want the field-by-field reference for the Library, it's in what the Ad Library shows and what it hides; if you'd rather start from the paths that don't go through it, see the four ways to spy on Facebook ads. All our guides are in Guides.
