Ad copy that converts cold traffic: the 5 formulas that show up most in top performers (with adapted real examples)
Vinícius Teixeira · 2026-10-07
After reading thousands of ad copies that have been running for 60+ days, five structures keep showing up. Use them as a framework, not as ready-to-run copy.
1. pain question → mechanism → proof → cta
“Swollen, heavy legs at the end of the day? It’s not a lack of exercise — it’s stagnant lymph. [Product] combines 4 extracts that help drain naturally. More than 3.000 women in Portugal have already tried it. Cash on delivery. 👉 Order yours.”
When to use it: product with an explainable mechanism. 70% of nutra top performers.
2. FIRST-PERSON STORY (mini advertorial)
“At 52, after menopause, my hair was falling out by the handful. No dermatologist ever told me the truth… [3 lines of journey] … today I use [product] 2× a day. It’s not a miracle, it’s a routine.”
When to use it: 45+, product for ongoing use, character-led page. Works in video (UGC) and long-form copy.
3. SYMPTOM LIST (identification)
“You: ✔ wake up tired ✔ feel bloated after eating ✔ retain water in hot weather ✔ have already tried everything. Your lymphatic system may be asking for help.”
When to use it: broad top of funnel, static image. High CTR, qualifies the audience.
4. contrast/comparison
“Compression socks provide relief for 2 hours. [Product] gets to the root cause. See the difference in 14 days or we’ll refund you.”
When to use it: product that replaces a familiar solution. Electronics and home products love this one.
5. DIRECT OFFER (retargeting and brand)
“Get 3, pay for 2 — only through Sunday. Free shipping + cash on delivery throughout Italy. 🚚”
When to use it: warm audience, branded search, last week of the month.
Cross-cutting rules
- The first line decides: 125 characters before “see more.” Pain or curiosity, never the product name.
- 1 emoji per block, at the start of the line, never in the middle of a sentence.
- Concrete numbers (14 days, 3.412 customers, 2× a day) > adjectives.
- CTA with the payment method when it’s COD: “Order and pay only when it arrives.”
- Have a native speaker review the native-language copy. Automated translation shows up in CPM (negative engagement).
Process
Pull 10 top-performer copies from FreeSpy (filter “strong hook,” 60+ days) → sort them into the 5 formulas → write 2 of your own versions for each formula → test all 10 in 48h.
